The REAL Secret Sauce For Athleticism

We live in a clout-chasing culture.

So it's only natural that, as athletes, we want to lift the heaviest weights possible to earn respect in the weight room, social media, and wherever else we post gym-selfies and personal record clips. But lifting as heavy as possible isn't always optimal for athleticism.

As a coach, I have to constantly disarm the lies our athletes have been fed so they understand what REALLY works for their athleticism. For example:

We work with an athlete on the vaunted KC Royals Scout Team.

He came into the gym one day frustrated and I learned it was due to his size vs some of the other future D1 ball players on that team. See, he might not be the “biggest” kid or weigh the most, but he’s definitely one of the most powerful and strongest. Here’s why…

Because the real athletic "secret sauce" lies in relative strength.

Relative strength is often overlooked because most athletes can't picture relative strength, but they can easily picture a guy bench pressing 500 pounds, or squatting 700+. However...

Whenever you see someone dash for a sub 4.5 40...

Or leap out of the gym...

Or juke a defender out of their shoes...

That's relative strength at work.

Relative strength is your strength relative to your bodyweight. So the more weight you can lift relative to your bodyweight, the higher your relative strength is.

But relative strength can also be displayed in the explosive feats I laid out above. And that's why I harp on it so much with my athletes. And more...

That's why we throw advanced bodyweight exercises at them. Then add tempos for added explosiveness and power. And we even throw in some complex training to ensure they get as much "athletic juice" from their training as possible.

Not only do this proven advanced bodyweight increase relative strength, but it also gives them more kinesthetic awareness, body control, stability, and structural integrity. This plays a role in protecting our athletes from injury AND enhancing their athleticism even further.

Think about crushing more homeruns…

Exploding off of one leg for a violent dunk…

Running down the ball and making a diving catch...

All of those feats require body control, stability, and coordination. And you can get ALL of that with our secret sauce training. Whether you are looking for…

  • Increased power and explosiveness

  • A Higher Vertical

  • More Speed
